The intro the toys pages in a sense...

How can a sensible one ride bikes in these dangerous times? I hear you say. Of course, not being a sensible person in the first place helps.

I've started riding bikes fairly recently. When I first got my driving license, I went for the car license only as it was too expensive to take both tests at the time. And of course the fact that my stepfather - who had a bike license - was strongly opposed to it might have had a certain influence in this descision.

The interest in motorbikes lay dormant for another 10 years or so until I moved to London. My daily commute wasn't exactly fun on the tube, but when my then-flatmate asked why I wouldn't consider commuting by motorbike, I explained to him about my lack of license and the lack of funds to take the test. After he outlined the steps necessary to take a bike test in the UK (which are different and far cheaper than taking the test in, say, Germany), I decided that it might be worth a try. As luck would have it, my local council was running a bike training schema, so I went there to get my CBT. Initially the price was the main consideration, but I was happy with the quality of the training, so I went back there for some preparatory lessons for my bike test.

For some strange reason, I seem to attract bikes that need "a bit of work"...

Anyway, have a bit of a nose around, maybe you'll find sometime useful or interesting.
