BMW R50/5

The R50/5 is the smallest model of the /5 series, introduced in 1969. It's actually the rarest model as well, as BMW only built about 7000 of them. The larger capacity R60/5 and R75/5 both sold far better.

I found mine amongst the small ads in the BMW club magazine. As bought, it wasn't in bad condition. Some of the chrome parts need replacing, most of the supposedly bright alloy isn't, but it's all there.

In fact I simply wheeled it out of the garage the following morning, pumped up the tyres and rode it to work and back. Unfortunately it was rather damp and the next day, it refused to fire at all.
